Tubliss with Shinko 525 Cheater

Honda CR250R with Tubliss

Shinko 525 HYBRID CHEATER with Tubliss

So, I have had the chance to spend a couple of hours on a 2003 Honda CR250R that has the Shinko 525 Hybrid Cheater tire with Tubliss installed.

This is a REALLY good combo….

It does really well in pretty much everything I threw at it….and I think its up to the task to compete with the Kenda IBEX.

Scroll to the bottom to see the specs on the Shinko 525 Cheater tire.

Tires can make or break a riding trip. The VERY best modification you can do to your bike is new tires with the Tubliss system.

Traction is the key with dirt bikes and you need to make sure you keep your tires fresh.

The combo of a sticky hybrid tire and Tubliss = MAGIC.

You still have the knobbies of a motocross style tire, plus a stiffer sidewall but you get the gummy trials tire compound for the knobbies.

This allows you to grip hard surfaces WAY better then a standard tire. In fact dirtbike tire companies are hurrying to release their version of these Hybrid tires….they are that good.

Now. The Shinko 525 is the new and improved version of the old Shinko 505 and in my opinion is much better…

Why?

The Knobbies…..They offer good hook up in the really loose/sandy conditions as well. The 505 just lacked a little in that area. This was where the IBEX was better then the 505….

The IBEX and 525 are pretty much even to me. I would get either of them.

I will continue to add to this post as I learn more about Shinko 525 vs Kenda IBEX

So, it really comes down to the price:

Last week was the first time that I was able to spend time riding on the Shinko 525 Cheater.
Its a really good tire.
Shinko’s newest Hybrid Soft/Intermediate Terrain Enduro/Extreme single track trail tire finds traction in the most extreme conditions
  • Perfect for Soft/Intermediate terrain
  • Best of both worlds, soft sticky rubber compounds like the Trail Pro trails tire in a knobby tread pattern to work in a wide variety of soil conditions
  • Where a Trials tire falls short in braking and loose soil conditions, the 525 “Cheater” bridges that gap to make it the Ultimate Hybrid off-road tire
  • Wide self-cleaning tread design
  • Available in popular 18″ and 19″ sizes
  • 4 ply

Tubliss System will work great for any Beta dirt bike, in fact I highly recommend using Tubliss if you ride offroad or enduro.

I have been using Tubliss for years. Everytime I get a new bike the first thing I do, is put Tubliss on my bike.

Adding Tubliss with the Husqvarna forks just made it perform even better.

I would feel more planted and safer but with solid rebound and compression.

Using Tubliss will help you eliminate flats, and provide you with better traction.

This will allow you to stay out riding for much longer and climb up that gnarly rock section that everyone else is struggling with.

Tubliss is a must have upgrade to your Husqvarna.

Tubliss 17 inch

/ by / Tags:

So, I get asked all the time if Neutech Tubliss makes other Tubliss sizes other than then

==> click here for full Tubliss review

Current Tubliss Sizes

  • 21 In Tubliss
  • 19 In Tubliss
  • 18 In Tubliss

how tubliss works

I have been asked if a Tubliss 17 inch is ever going to be made and to be honest I don’t know.

The reason that Nuetech has decided to make Tubliss in the sizes that they do is pretty obvious.

They want to make the most money which means they need to make product for the most popular rims sizes in the dirt bike market.

The 21 in front and 18 in rear is probably their best sellers.

Why?

21 in rim is the front tire for almost all of the big bikes 125-500 CC +

The 19 in is for Motocross bikes.

Most people that are using Tubliss are enduro offroaders and those offroad dirt bikes have a 18 in rim.

You can use Tubliss for your motocross bike and it works great….it just seems to be more popular with the offroad single track crew.

Do I think Nuetech will ever make a 17″ Tubliss?

Depends….

If they sell enough of the 21,18, and 19 in Tubliss then there is a good chance they will venture into other sizes as well.

But for now they unfortunately don’t make a 17 in Tubliss.

If you are interested in Tubliss or have any questions please leave your message in the comments below.

I look forward to hearing from you.

FMF Gnarly pipe 2 stroke review

FMF Gnarly 2 stroke pipe

Looking into getting a FMF Gnarly pipe for your 2 stroke dirt bike?

If, yes then stick around this review is for you.

I have been replacing my bent, smashed up stock OEM 2 stroke pipes with the FMF Gnarly pipe.

==> 2018 Tubliss review

My last bike which was a 2017 KTM 300 XC had one but I got a new 2017 KTM 250 XC that is still using the stock 2 stroke pipe (It does have a FMF Turbine Core 2 silencer).

With spring around the corner I am sure I will be needing to get a new FMF Gnarly pipe soon….

Why should I buy a FMF Gnarly 2 stroke pipe?

If you are a serious offroad rider and want to broaden the power to get more traction, you need to invest in the FMF Gnarly pipe with a FMF Turbine Core 2 silencer.

CLICK HERE TO Get yours ==>

Here are the benefits of the FMF Gnarly 2 stroke pipe

  • 18 gauge steel for way more durability over stock
  • More Tractable power gains
  • Power gains in the bottom to mid range
  • FMF uses a Tru-Flo stamping process to ensure perfect fit
  • Most cases can be used with stock silencer
  • O – rings are included

Downsides of the FMF Gnarly 2 stroke pipe

  • There isn’t ANY

Getting a FMF Gnarly pipe is cheaper and better than replacing it with a stock OEM 2 stroke pipe.

For example KTM’s OEM 2 stroke pipe for a 300 xc costs around $400 bucks…..

The toughest 2 stroke pipe you can buy

The Gnarly is made to take a beating and is probably one of the toughest 2 stroke pipes you can buy.

Along with giving you better bottom end power, this allows for more traction.

For those who ride hard enduro or offroad know that traction is KING.

FMF also pre dent’s the top of the FMF Gnarly for KTM bikes allowing the pipe to wrap closer to the bike.

This keeps the FMF pipe further away from trouble, but not completely out of trouble.

If you need to fix other dents in your FMF Gnarly 2 stroke pipe, be aware that the pre dent will also be fixed.

(This happened to one of my buddies)

FMF is one of the few companies that are still investing time and money in development of 2 stroke pipes.

If you are the type of Dirt bike rider that is hard on pipes (You know who you are)

You really don’t have a choice…..The FMF Gnarly pipe is the best 2 stroke pipe for the job.

FMF Gnarly with Powercore 2

The FMF Gnarly with a Turbine powercore 2 is the best combination for a 2 stroke rider who rides hard enduro.

The Turbine powercore 2 is Forest Service approved.

Tubliss long term review 2018

/ by / Tags:

Kenda Ibex with tubliss

I have been using Tubliss for years and from time to time I get asked the following question:

How long does Tubliss last?

The answer is it depends…..

This is a full Long Term Review of Tubliss System Gen 2.0

A long time ago I first heard about the Nuetech Tubliss System from a “Dirt bike Magazine” and they raved about it.

But like anything new there is always a little doubt in your mind until you get more social proof

I always wanted to try Tubliss but I didn’t personally know anyone that had experience with it.

It wasn’t until I met one of my now riding buddies Scott.

Scott had been using Tubliss on his bike for a while and had nothing but good things to say about it.

This is when I decided to take the plunge.

I bought my first set a Tubliss and installed them at my buddies house.

Since then I have put hundred of hours on the Tubliss system and here is what I have learned.

  1. The most important thing to do when using Tubliss is to make sure you INSTALL them correctly.
  2. Make sure to check the high pressure inner tube before every ride
  3. When putting on new tires make sure not to grab the red liner with a tire spoon

Now, I am sure you are wondering what issues I have had with Tubliss?

To be honest I haven’t had any real issues with it. The only thing is I had one front tire with Tubliss that would leak air out of the front high compression inner tube.

This inner tube would go flat after a few days. Not sure why but this was an easy fix with a new $18 inner tube.

This only happened once.

After that I haven’t had a SINGLE issue with Tubliss. (As soon as I do have an issue I will let you know)

None of the 5 guys I ride with has ever had issues with the Tubliss system failing either.

The first time I got a flat tire with Tubliss, I had to ride out 12 miles to the truck on a flat (wasn’t carrying tire plugs at the time).

The Tubliss never failed.

Whenever you get a flat tire all you need to do is plug it with a plug kit like you see below

Tubliss tire plug kit

Now.

When changing the tire I always check the red liner to see how much damage its taken.

Typically even if it looks worn it still works great.

I personally think that Tubliss lasts longer then Mousse bibs.

==> click here to see Mousse vs Tubliss

The other thing is I really like the ability to is manage the air pressure of your tire Mousse bibs don’t allow for that.

I will continue to give updates on the this article

One of my riding buddies who destroys rims and swears by Tubliss on his 2017 Yamaha 250X.

He has been using Tubliss for years. Everytime he gets a new bike the first thing he does is put Tubliss on his bike.

I spent a around 6 hours on this Yamaha YZ250x riding it fast desert with big whoops and loose conditions.  Even with running the tires at a lower then normal PSI, I never felt uncomfortable going fast.

As many of you know, Yamaha makes some of the best performing off the self front forks.

Adding Tubliss with the KYB SSS forks just made it perform even better.

In fact when comparing a 2017 KTM 250/300xc with the AER air fork to the Yamaha YZ250x, the Yamaha would do a better job in the high speed whoops.

I would feel more planted and safer but with solid rebound and compression.

Using Tubliss will help you eliminate flats, and provide you with better traction.

This will allow you to stay out riding for much longer and climb up that gnarly rock section that everyone else is struggling with.

Tubliss is a must have upgrade to your Yamaha.
